Richard T. Bauer III, DPM FACFAS, is a double Board-Certified Podiatric foot and ankle surgeon with extensive experience in the field. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Siena College and his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his post-doctoral training at St. Barnabas Hospital Health System, a Regional Level I Trauma Center located in New York City, where he later served as Chief Resident.

After returning to the Capital District, Dr. Bauer founded Summit Foot and Ankle and has held positions at various institutions including the Samaritan Wound and Incontinence Center, Podiatry Associates of Greenwich, and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Dr. Bauer is Board Certified in Foot and Reconstructive Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, ABFAS as the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, ABPM. He holds active licenses and certifications in New York State, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bauer has been involved in numerous committees, consulting roles, hospital affiliations, and has presented research at various conferences and seminars. His professional interests include functional reconstruction of the foot and ankle, optimizing biomechanics in the young athlete as well as minimizing recovery using regenerative therapies.

Dr. Bauer is affiliated with Saratoga Hospital and Ambulatory Surgery Center as well as St. Peter’s Hospital System.
